For a while last night in a chilly Dobsomville Stadium in Soweto, it looked like Jomo Cosmos FC would knockback their chances of playing top flight football in 2015/2016 season in the PSL.
But a “Wise-man” substitution by Jomo Sono would see them being promoted ahead of Black Leopards after finishing on 7 points a piece in the mini play-off tournament with a superior goal difference.
Wiseman Maluleke netted the solitary winning goal in the 76th minute after a cracking cross form Pentjie Zulu.
The ball hit the back of the net much to the visible relief of the Cosmos bench who were standing up and holding there breaths at the onset of the goal and Maluleke immediately ran to his coach and his teammates followed. Maluleke says after the match that all he could think about after the goal was going to celebrate with his coach.
At the sound of the final whistle‚ the elated Cosmos players and management threw their jerseys in the air and they ran to Sono.
Ezenkosi knew that they needed to win the match. But they were very cautious and nervous in the first half and in the 2nd half they looked like a team that had a lot to lose if they didn’t score.
