A new-look Jomo Cosmos side showed glimpses of naivety and inexperience during their 1-2 defeat by visiting Ajax Cape Town in Vosloorus last Sunday.
The home side had no less than seven new players in their starting XI, and key players like Ange Lebahi, Riaan Hanamub and Chibuike Ohizu were conspicuously absent due to permit issues.
After trailing by a first half lone goal scored by Samuel Julies following a defensive blunder, Ezenkosi adopted a different approach in the second half and became more adventurous in attack.
Their efforts finally paid off with less than 10 minutes left to play when Isaac Nhlapo was adjudged to have illegally brought down Tebogo Mabula in the box.
Cosmos Captain on the day, Inky Masuku then stepped up and scored the penalty kick to draw both sides level.
But barely a minute later, Ezenkosi’s defence slipped up yet again, allowing substitute Prince Nxumalo to turn and fire a low shot past goalkeeper Mwenya Chibwe for the winning goal.
Cosmos have a chance to redeem themselves when they travel to Kameelrivier Stadium next Sunday to lock horns with NFD rookies TS Galaxy.
