Hlongwane was on target for Ezenkosi in the first half

Jomo Cosmos failed to take the maximum points but remained second on the NFD log after playing to a 1-1 draw against visiting Cape Town All Stars on Sunday.

Ezenkosi were made to pay dearly for their profligacy in front of goal as Igugu Lekapa rallied back with virtually the last kick of the game to steal a point in Vosloorus.

The home side showed early attacking intent with lone striker Lefa Hlongwane breaking the deadlock just after 12 minutes.

His solo dribbling run left two markers for dead before unleashing a left foot shot that sailed past the groping hands of goalkeeper Ludwe Mpakumpaku and into the top right corner.

Ezenkosi were dealt a major blow just four minutes to half time when injured midfielder Nkanyiso Zungu limped off and was replaced by Tebogo Mabula.

Mabula should have doubled Cosmos lead soon after but his long range effort was punched to corner by Mpakumpaku.

Both teams went into the break with Cosmos holding on to their slim advantage.

The home side turned on the heat in a second half attacking blitz that should have produced more goals, but Lefa Hlongwane, Silas Maziya, Tebogo Mabula and substitute Clifford Mulenga failed to utilize glaring chances.

In the dying moments of the game, All Stars took control of proceedings and pinned Cosmos to their own half.

The Ezenkosi defence finally buckled under pressure in the last minute of added time when Ange Lebahi handled the ball inside the box resulting in a penalty.

Substitute Ruzaigh Gamaldien then stepped forward and fired past King Ndlovu to tie the game and deny Cosmos their 8th home win of the season.
