Cosmos go down fighting as Eagles claim maximum points in Durban

Ezenkosi striker, Charlton Mashumba

Jomo Cosmos slumped to their fourth defeat of the season when they went down 0-2 to Royal Eagles in an NFD contest at Chatsworth Stadium, Durban last Saturday.

A goal in either half by Diego Brown and Dillon Solomons condemned Ezenkosi to another defeat on the road and poses a big question mark on the club’s quest for promotion with 10 points now separating them from the log leaders.

Ezenkosi boss, Jomo Sono gave Sifiso Nkosi his first league start in the encounter, switching Mpumelelo Zondi to left back as Zane Xolani Mahlangu returned to midfield in place of Sean Ledwaba.

But the changes made very little impact as the hosts came up with the decisive goals.

The loss plunged Cosmos further down the league standings at number 10, while Royal Eagles moved up to fifth.

Ezenkosi have a chance to revive their NFD fortunes when they return to Durban this weekend to face Uthongathi FC at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.
