Jomo Cosmos safe hands, King Ndlovu

The NFD enters its home stretch from this weekend as 4th placed Jomo Cosmos welcome log leaders Highlands Park to Vosloorus Stadium in a potentially explosive East Rand derby between two brilliant sides.

A win for Ezenkosi could take Jomo Sono’s men back to the top three as they chase a play-off spot with 10 matches left to play.

The Lions of the North claimed the bragging rights when both sides clashed in the first round in Tembisa last August, but this time the odds could favour Ezenkosi at their intimidating Vosloorus home ground where the team has posted an impressive 10-game unbeaten run that includes seven wins.

Highlands Park currently enjoy a massive eight points advantage over closest rivals Tshakhuma TM, and are unbeaten in their last 14 matches.

But Cosmos can put a halt to that streak, though that remains to be seen as Ezenkosi has suffered a slump in form this year with only two points collected in their last five matches.

Similarly, the unavailability of key players like Tebogo “Messi” Tlolane, Silas Maziya, Sicelo Mkhize, Siphenathi Laqwela and Mduduzi Sibeko, who failed a late fitness test on Friday, could dent expectations as Cosmos strive to remain in the hunt for promotion.

Sunday’s game will be aired live on SuperSport4.

Kick off time at the Vosloorus Stadium is 15h30.
