Jomo Cosmos owner and Head Coach, Dr. E.M. ‘Jomo’ Sono, on Thursday announced that the team will be returning to familiar terrain when they host their official games of the 2017-2018 season at Vosloorus Stadium, located on the East Rand.
At a Press Conference hosted by the team at Vosloorus Stadium on Thursday, the legendary former Bafana Bafana boss said: “We are delighted to announce that the team is returning to its original home ground of Vosloorus.
“This has been as a result of our previous home venues not meeting the League’s standard requirements hence we are compelled to take this decision.
“However, it happens to be a good one because this is where Cosmos started. This team was founded on the East Rand, and today we are happy to be back where it all started,” he stressed.
Vosloorus and Cosmos share an exciting history going way back to 1987 when Ezenkosi were crowned National Soccer League (NSL) champions with the team using that venue as home ground.
Over the last eight seasons Cosmos have shuffled home venues, going as far as Makhulong Stadium, PAM Brink Stadium, Vaal University of Technology (VUT) Stadium, Sinaba Stadium, Huntersfield Stadium, Oppenheimer Stadium and Olen Park Stadium both in the North West, Rand Stadium, Johannesburg Stadium, and lately Tsakane Stadium for their home matches.
