Helder Muianga © Gallo ImagesThe upcoming Absa Premiership game against Bidvest Wits may be a turning point for Jomo Cosmos, that is the belief of co-assistant coach Helder “Mano Mano” Muianga.

The former Ezenkosi and Mozambican Mambas defender, who recently attended a coaching course in Germany, says it is only a matter of time before things turn around at Cosmos.

The game against the Students si billed for the Milpark stadium in Auckland Park on Sunday. Kick off is at 3.30pm “We are always positive going into any game. We have been playing some good football but have, unfortunately conceded some silly goals through mistakes at the back. But, with that said, the mood is high within the camp and the boys are anxious to start winning. It is only a matter of time and I see the match against Wits as a turning point for us. “We are very confident because we are on the right as far as our planning is concerned. You know, in this game you also need luck. We have been playing well and creating chances which we should start converting.

“People must remember we have a young team, some of who are only in their maiden season in the professional ranks. We also signed a lot of new players at the beginning of the season so we have to try out different combinations in order to get the right one. It takes time and, unfortunately the games are coming in thick and fast so we have to also bear that in mind,” Muianga says.

With the exception of Tshepo Moloto (injury), Osman Berthe and Thapelo Tshilo (suspended), Muianga says the team has a clean bill of health.

“It’s a big blow not to have these guys available but we have a big squad with equally capable replacements at hand to step in. It gives the other players to stake their claim and stand up and be counted.

“We are going to Milpark for a win and hope to step a gear up from there on,” he concludes.
