We fear no-one - Mano Muianga

Helder Muianga © Gallo ImagesJomo Cosmos has reached a stage where the team fears no one.

This is the assertion of none other than former Mozambican international defender and now assistant coach at Ezenkosi, Helder “Mano Mano” Muianga, ahead of the crucial Absa Premiership encounter against Kaizer Chiefs.

The game is scheduled for the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Tshwane on Saturday afternoon.

Kick-off is at 3.30pm and the game is live on SABC TV.

“Look, we have been playing well considering we were just back in the elite league with inexperienced youngsters and acquired a few more professionals, who still had to adjust to the team’s methods and then find the right combination. That was not easy with the 2009/10 football season being short and hectic. There was not enough time to implement our ideas and plans as we played around three games a week. Injuries and suspensions also played a crucial part in that it caused us to chop and change along the way.

“The recent break was also both good and bad in that injured players were able to get enough time to get well while the momentum was broken and now teams are back in competitive mood but not exactly match fit.

“That is what happened in our game against Maritzburg United –- one could see that both teams were not as aggressive as they were in the first half. Fatigue had caught up with them. Now we are back in full swing and we know our objectives and we want to achieve them. We were a bit disappointed not to have collected all three points against Maritzburg, but we are confident going into this one. Chiefs are a good team, but like I said we have reached a stage where we fear no one.

“Our top scorer, Sekou Camara has been hard at training after recovering from a shoulder injury that kept him out for almost two months.” said Muianga.

Cosmos also welcome back Malian international defender, Osman Berthe, who missed the game against Maritzburg due to suspension.

There are no reported injuries within the team and everyone is raring to go against Chiefs.

As club boss and head coach, Jomo Sono, said, no player needs motivation when the fixture is against Chiefs.

The mercurial Bongani “Shuffle” Theletsane is expected to start with the game this time around after coming on as a substitute in the fixture against Maritzburg.

Cosmos have now gone five games unbeaten but have struggled to find the net, with Camara being seen as the answer to this problem in the five remaining games.

Meanwhile Kick-Off.com reports that Kaizer Chiefs head coach Vladimir Vermezovic said Saturday's game against Jomo Cosmos at the Loftus Stadium will be "tough" for his team.

The Serbian told KickOff.com that the Cosmos he sees now is playing better than they did for most part of the season.

”We are not going to be lulled into complacency by this statement,” said Muianga, “we just believe in ourselves and know that we have a job to do and will go out there and give it our all.”
