Hanamub called up by Namibia for Afcon duty

Hanamub (R) in action for Namibia during a recent win over Zimbabwe

Jomo Cosmos left back, Riaan Hanamub is on course to win his 15th international cap after being called up by Namibia coach, Ricardo Mannetti to join 24 other players for this weekend’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Zambia in Windhoek.

The Brave Warriors are currently third in Group K behind Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau after one game each, and victory over Zambia could put them in pole position for eventual qualification.

Namibia’s 25-man squad also includes two former Cosmos players, midfielder Denzil Haoseb and wing back Ananias Gebhardt.

Both Namibia and Zambia will be searching for their first points in Group K when they meet in Windhoek on 8 September after the two teams suffered defeats in their opening group matches.

Namibia lost 1-0 away to Guinea-Bissau on 10 June, while Zambia surprisingly also lost 1-0 to Mozambique in Lusaka on 10 June.
