Jomo Cosmos defender, Riaan Hanamub again made the final cut when Namibia’s head coach Riccardo Mannetti unveiled a 26-member squad to face Guinea-Bissau in a crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group K encounter at the Sam Nujoma stadium on 17 November.

There were no major changes to the team that defeated Mozambique home and away in October.

Defender Chris Katjiukua was roped in to replace former Ezenkosi midfielder, Denzil Haoseb, who is serving a one-match suspension after he was sent off against Mozambique last month.

Defender Immanuel Heita also returned to the squad after recovering from injury.

Mannetti said Namibia was taking the Guinea-Bissau clash seriously given that in the event that the two sides finish their campaigns on same points the Confederation of African Football “will use head-to-head in determining who qualifies for the tournament” whose finals are set for Cameroon in June next year.

“We as the technical team are not becoming complacent. Every player wants to be part of history,” Mannetti said.

Namibia is second on the log, level on seven points with group leaders Guinea-Bissau but with an inferior goal difference. Mozambique and Zambia are on four points each.

Namibia, hoping to appear at its third AFCON finals, will play their last qualifier away to Zambia in March 2019.

The group winner will qualify for the 32nd edition of the AFCON scheduled from 15 June to 13 July 2019.
