Ezenkosi’s Namibian pair of Denzil Haoseb and Ananias “Junior” Gebhardt came off second best when they lost 1-0 to South Africa in the COSAFA Cup Plate final at Moruleng Stadium on Friday evening.
Haoseb featured in the full 90 minutes while Junior was a second half substitute.
The hosts looked relatively comfortable throughout and made the breakthrough in the 36th minute courtesy of a deflected Mohau Mokate effort.
That proved the only goal of the game as Bafana Bafana won what is effectively the competition’s fifth-place play-off.
Namibia had enjoyed very little success in front of goal but came close in the 78th minute as Denzil Haoseb looped a header onto the crossbar with Pule beaten.
In the final minutes Namibia pressed hard for an equalizer and with time running out Sandile Mthethwa was forced to clear off the line before Pule saved from point blank range to preserve his side’s lead.
