Jomo Cosmos midfielder, Tebogo Mabula says the team has a “reasonable” chance of going through to the quarterfinals of the competition.
“I think it’s a good draw for us, particularly as we’ll be hosting the game, but we are not taking anything for granted because we know TS Galaxy is a very good side capable of springing surprises on their day,” he said.
Mabula was reacting to Thursday night’s Round of 16 draw which pitted Ezenkosi against fellow NFD campaigners, TS Galaxy “The Rockets,” stressing that Cosmos has the potential to reach the last eight of South Africa’s biggest money-spinning cup tournament if they keep their nerve and remain focused.
“It’s not going to be an easy game for either team, but on our side we really do fancy our chances and believe we have a reasonable chance of going through because we have a depth of potential, huge team spirit and determination,” said Mabula, who missed last Tuesday’s shock 1-0 defeat of Baroka FC due to injury.
To reach this stage of the competition, Jomo Cosmos eliminated Real Kings FC 2-0 and Baroka FC by a lone goal.
Dates and venues for the Round of 16 contest will be communicated by the league in due course.
