Jomo Cosmos owner and Head Coach, Dr. E.M. ‘Jomo’ Sono is enraged and disappointed after the PSL moved next week’s Nedbank Cup fixture between Cosmos and TS Galaxy to Makhulong Stadium.
This came as a result of non-issuance of a compliance certificate for Vosloorus Stadium, the same reason that almost prevented Cosmos hosting Mbombela United at the same venue last weekend.
As the home venue saga continues, Dr. Sono has come out to voice his concerns over what he perceives as ‘foul play.’
‘As a team we feel disrespected by the strange happenings around the issue of a grading certificate.
“All other stadiums are certified okay for a full year, but our home ground (Vosloorus) only gets certification for one or two games at a time.
“This looks unfair and to be candid, reeks of foul play.
“Now we must go to Makhulong because there are unseen elements that do not want us to play in Vosloorus,” he fumed.
“The implication of this is that we are going to lose our home ground advantage (against TS Galaxy), and probably in subsequent league matches,” he said.
He disclosed that he was making moves to rectify the problem once and for all.
“To arrest this situation, I think I may have to schedule a meeting with the Mayor (of Ekurhuleni Municipality) on the way forward because we do not own Stadiums and cannot dictate to the Municipality when it comes to issues of this nature,” he noted.
Cosmos returned to Vosloorus Stadium last season where they played all their home fixtures including 11 in the current season so far.
The Jomo Cosmos vs TS Galaxy fixture tie has been slated for 17 February, 2019 at Makhulong Stadium. Kick off time is 15h00.
