Ezenkosi’s midfield sensation, Wiseman Maluleke, is upbeat that Jomo Cosmos can tear the form books by beating Bidvest Wits in their Nedbank Cup Last 16 fixture on Tuesday night.
Wits are front runners in the PSL and are considered hot favourites to clinch the Absa Premiership title, while Cosmos are trying to grab a play-off spot in the second tier NFD.
But in spite of the yawning gap between both teams, Maluleke is not scared about the rich credentials of the Clever Boys.
“We do acknowledge the fact that they are doing very well in the elite league; therefore we’ll definitely give them the respect they deserve. But once the game begins the respect ends there.
“We intend to give this our best shot, and already we are looking beyond the Last 16,” he asserted.
Maluleke has so far enjoyed a rich vein of form going into Tuesday’s encounter, having notched up three goals in the campaign, the last couple of strikes coming against United Rovers FC, in a performance that won him the Man of the Match Accolade.
“Personally I feel no pressure whereby I have to replicate my previous performance, and the good thing about our team is that anyone is capable of scoring,” he added.
“However, I do believe that with a good team effort we can surprise Wits and advance to the next round.
The former Witbank Spurs star further stressed that hosting the game could be an advantage for Cosmos against their more illustrious opponents.
“I guess we have the added advantage of playing in Tsakane because we are familiar with the atmosphere and our home record so far on that pitch is intimidating. We also pray that the god of football favours us in terms of winning this particular game.”
The potentially explosive tie kicks off at 19h30 in Tsakane Stadium, Brakpan.
