Ace winger, Silas “Shorty” Maziya restored smiles on the faces of Jomo Cosmos supporters when he returned to training on Wednesday after more than a month out on the sidelines.
“It’s been a trying moment for me, but I’m glad to be back in familiar terrain,” said the 21-year-old, who has been a revelation for Ezenkosi since joining the team from Magesi FC last year.
Maziya sustained a serious knee injury during the NFD match between University of Pretoria and Jomo Cosmos on February 3 and subsequently missed out on the league fixtures against Highlands Park, Stellenbosch FC and Mbombela United,
Prior to his injury setback, Maziya, who played his first official game for Ezenkosi on August 19, 2017 against Highlands Park, had made 19 starts and one substitute appearance for the team, scoring one goal and providing five assists.
Meanwhile, holding midfielder Mduduzi Sibeko is still battling to recover from his knee problem.
The former Acornbush United star has missed four matches so far since featuring in Ezenkosi’s 1-1 draw at home to Witbank Spurs on January 28.
