Jomo Cosmos striker, Kevin Ndayisenga says he’s excited to score on his debut for Ezenkosi in last weekend’s 4-1 rout of AmaZulu in a National First Division (NFD) game at Olen Park.
“As a matter of fact I am very excited to get off to a good start by scoring on my debut, but even more importantly I delighted that we beat AmaZulu to claim all three points as this would boost our chances of fighting for promotion,” said the former Bujumbura City hit man.
The 25-year-old spent the last couple of months on the sidelines over Work Permit issues, but when he finally got the official nod to play his first NFD game, he took the opportunity with aplomb.
His well-taken 10th minute goal fired Cosmos in front and heralded a massive afternoon of attacking football as Ezenkosi virtually tore AmaZulu to shreds.
Ndayisenga, who is well known by his nickname “Dambo” by local fans back home in Burundi, added that it was a dream come true to play for Ezenkosi, and winning on his debut couldn’t have elicited a better feeling.
“I think we played very well, and everyone put in their best on the day. It was a good team performance and I hope we can sustain the tempo in subsequent matches. It’s going to be a long and hard season but I guess we are ready for the challenge,” he stated with an air of confidence.
The burly striker, who has so far won six international caps with the Swallows of Burundi, will be looking to increase his personal goals tally when Cosmos host FC Cape Town in their 7th NFD game next Sunday at Olen Park Stadium.
