Jomo Cosmos owner and Head Coach, Jomo Sono has tagged his team as the underdogs ahead of next Tuesday’s Nedbank Cup Round of 32 fixture away to Baroka FC.
At a Press Conference organized for Gauteng-based teams at PSL offices in Parktown on Wednesday, the former Bafana Bafana coach admitted that in view of his team’s current struggles, it would be a miracle if they overcome Baroka FC in the money-spinning competition.
“To be honest, we don’t stand a chance against a team of Baroka’s caliber. Our league form has not been encouraging though we still fancy our chances of going through to the (NFD) play-offs.
“However, we’ll give it our all as we intend to field our strongest squad in the cup game,” he said.
Also at the conference was Ezenkosi Captain, Ange Lebahi, who expressed optimism about his team’s chances of advancing to the next stage of the competition at Baroka’s expense.
“I think we are highly motivated to go all out and fight for a place in the last 16. We have what it takes, and we believe we can pull off an upset,” said the veteran defender.
Baroka FC host Jomo Cosmos next Tuesday in the last of the Round of 32 fixtures. Kick off time at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane is 19h30.
The game will be beamed live on SuperSport 4.
