Red tape scuttles Fredy’s Afcon qualifier trip

Jomo Cosmos captain, Frederic Nsabiyumva, has been officially ruled out of this weekend’s Africa Cup of Nations Group K qualifier between his country Burundi and Niger in Niamey.

This is due to his Work Permit application, which was still awaiting approval as at Thursday evening.

Nsabiyumva was scheduled to travel out to Niamey via Bujumbura this week, but the present development has made that impossible.

The big centre back expressed his disappointment while disclosing this piece of news during Cosmos’ training session on Thursday evening.

“It’s not possible for me to travel for the game in Niger because I’m still awaiting my Work Permit,” he said.

Nsabiyumva, who captained Ezenkosi all through last season, has now missed out on two successive high-profile matches after being conspicuously absent from last Sunday’s opening NFD encounter between Jomo Cosmos and FC Cape Town in Potchefstroom for the same reason.
