Matsilele Sono Jnr
Midfielder Matsilele Sono Jnr, and strike aces Brice Aka and Kevin Ndayisenga, are Ezenkosi’s major injury casualties as the team steps up preparations for this weekend’s crucial NFD clash away to Mthatha Bucks.
Although Sono Jnr began light training on Tuesday, it’s not certain if he’ll be available for the game.
Cosmos face Bucks in Mthatha on Saturday afternoon hoping to improve on their log standing.
But the team will be without midfield ace, Sono Jnr, who has been grounded with a left ankle strain, while Aka and Ndayisenga are also suffering knee injuries. Club physio, Morgan Sono says the players are due for a scan after which the severity of their injuries will be determined.
Other minor injury concerns are Siphenathi Laqwela (knee), and Hendrik Somaeb (knee).
Meanwhile, Ezenkosi engaged SAB League side, Triple S FC, in a friendly game in Springfield on Monday, and came out tops with a comprehensive 4-1 victory.
Mxolisi Macuphu maintained his scoring streak with a brace of goals for Cosmos, while Thato Lingwati and Nkanyiso Madonsela completed the rout despite a late consolation from Triple S midfielder, Thabo Makgothi.
Cosmos are currently 5th on the NFD log with 22 points from 15 matches, just a point above 7th-placed Mthatha Bucks. Ezenkosi prevailed 1-0 over Bucks when both sides clashed for the first time this season in Potchefstroom last September.
