Jomo Cosmos stepped up their training schedule at the weekend when they beat non-league side, White Eagles 6-2 in a friendly encounter in Springfield, near Rand Stadium.

Burundi striker Kevin Ndayisenga fired Cosmos in front with a quick-fire double before Namibian left wing back, Ananias “Junior” Gebhardt added another to make it 3-1 at the end of the first stanza.

In the second period, goals from Nkanyiso Madonsela, Mtokozisi “Boika” Msomi and Malawian midfielder Miciam Mhone took Cosmos to an unassailable 6-1 lead before the visitors pulled one back in the dying moments.

Ezenkosi winger, Tebogo Makobela was excused from Sunday’s training session after suffering a slight knock on his right foot during the game, but should be fit again in the next couple of days.

Meanwhile, Matsilelel Sono Junior continued his fitness programme and is on the road to full recovery after coming through a muscle strain, and looks set to return to training this week.
