Cosmos confirm new signings …as team targets swift return to Premiership

The mood in camp said it all; Jomo Cosmos may be down, but not necessarily out.

To the fans, coaching crew and players, the objective is clear: Get back to the Premiership
in the shortest time possible.

In the past few weeks of pre-season activity, competition has been fierce amongst old and new players, and the crunchy battles on the training ground is sheer testimony that the team, surely, have a target.

Ezenkosi Team Manager, Bamuza Sono confirmed the signing of new players to beef up the squad ahead of the National First Division (NFD) campaign which kicks off next month.

Amongst new intakes to don the club’s colours in 2016-2017 season include Burundi international striker, Kevin Ndayisenga, who signed a two-year deal with Cosmos.

Two Namibians, Ananias Gebhardt and Denzil Haoseb, joined the team from Black Africa FC, while Congolese defence stalwart Ange Dahou Lebahi signed in from African Warriors.

Making up the list of new recruits for now is 18-year-old strike ace, Amara Kone, who was promoted from the Jomo Cosmos academy.

Those who have left following last season’s campaign, include goalkeeper Sherwyn Naicker, Thabang Monare, Pentjie Zulu, Sibusiso Khumalo, Luyolo Nomandela, Cheslyn Jampies, Ndabenhle Mthembu, Denver Mukamba and Charlton Mashumba.

With Head Coach Jomo Sono retaining about 90percent of last season’s squad, Cosmos look set to be amongst the frontrunners gunning for promotion to the elite league.
