World soccer governing body, FIFA, has directed that a minute’s silence be observed before the start of Sunday’s NFD tie between  Jomo Cosmos and Magesi FC, in memory of Brazilian players and officials killed in last Monday’s plane crash in Colombia.

A statement from FIFA Secretary-General, Fatma Samoura, said there must be compliance to this directive at every football match across the globe in honour of victims of the plane crash which, among others, claimed the lives of players and officials of Brazilian football club, Associagäo Chapecoense de Futebol, while they were travelling to MedeIIin to play the final of the Copa Sudamericana.

The Bureau also agreed that all players should wear black armbands to commemorate the tragic accident, which has touched the entire football world.
