Jomo Cosmos slipped to the bottom of the GladAfrica Championship (GAC) after going down to TS Sporting 2-0 last Saturday in Mpumalanga.

Home fans at the Kabokweni Stadium were relieved to see their team moving up to 14th spot in a virtual swap of positions with Ezenkosi after a brace of goals from Decide Chauke secured their first win of the season.

The striker struck in the early minutes of each half to punish slack defending by the visitors whose lackadaisical approach resulted in their third defeat of the campaign.

Starting off the game with a 4-5-1 formation that saw Chibuike Ohizu playing as a lone striker, Cosmos struggled to create any clear scoring opportunities in the entire game, and had only one tame shot at goal through midfielder Kagiso Ndlovu.

The Cosmos bench rang maximum changes in the second stanza after going two goals down, with Wandile Sicholo, Ongelethu “Modric” Somtsewu and former Belgium-based midfielder, Phakamani Mngadi (his first official game for Ezenkosi) coming in to fortify the team, but it was a case of too little, too late.

Saturday’s defeat was Ezenkosi’s third in seven games so far, and with a home game against Royal Eagles pending, the team has to pull up its socks and start winning games to avoid colossal embarrassment.
