Jomo Cosmos look set to kick off their 2019-2020 campaign next weekend after a grueling pre-season that saw the club signing up a number of new players.
Top on the list of new intakes is former Belgium-based midfielder, Phakamani Mngadi, Nigerian striker Chijioke Omeke from Ferroviaro Maputo, as well as Clint Fredericks and Wandile Sicholo from relegated Ubuntu Cape Town FC.
Seven players promoted from Jomo Cosmos Academy are striker Joseph “Gabuza” Malgas, defenders Branden “Tower” Matsila, Joseph “Josta” Lekalakala, Takatso “TK” Mokoena and Thabang Mofokeng. Midfielders Ronald Mbambo and Sifiso Mazibuko also got the nod.
Key players who left Ezenkosi in the off-season include wing sensation Silas Maziya (to Chippa United), Vusumuzi “Skheshe” Mncube (JDR Stars), and goalkeeper Mwenya Chibwe, who has found a new home at Polokwane City FC.
Jomo Cosmos travel to Kameelrivier Stadium next Sunday to face TS Galaxy in their opening GladAfrica Championship (GAC) fixture.
