The last round of qualifying matches for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations will be held on the weekend of September 3 and 4, and a number of Jomo Cosmos players have been called up by their respective countries.
Top on the list is our captain, Frederic Nsabiyumva, who has been selected by Burundi ahead of their last Group K qualifying game away to Niger in Niamey.
Both countries are already out of contention as Burundi are in second position with six points from five games, nine behind group winners Senegal, while Niger are rock bottom with only two points from similar number of matches.
In the same group, Namibia has called up the Jomo Cosmos pair of wing back Ananias “Junior” Gebhardt, and attacking midfielder Hendrik “Ballack” Somaeb for their last match away to Senegal. Ezenkosi’s experienced midfielder, Denzil Haoseb has been ruled out of the game due to suspension.
Elsewhere, Malawi’s Flames also invited Cosmos midfield star, Miciam Mhone for their home tie against Swaziland, who are seeking a possible win to boost their chances of going through to the tournament as best runners-up.
Zimbabwe have already taken the group as winners.
Mhone has won over 12 caps for the Flames.
