Lebahi’s last-gasp goal gives Ezenkosi a crucial point against AmaTuks in Pretoria

Jomo Cosmos grabbed another valuable point away from home when they held University of Pretoria to a 2-all draw at Tuks Stadium over the weekend.

It was Ezenkosi’s third draw on the spin following previous results against Stellenbosch FC and Real Kings.

Samuel Julies scored a brace for the Students while Tumi Ngwepe and Ange Lebahi, whose late equalizer proved very crucial, responded for Cosmos.

After a cagey first half that saw neither side coming close to breaking the deadlock, the game came alive after the break with the visitors probing deep into their opponents’ half in search of the opening goal.

Their efforts paid off handsomely just three minutes on resumption for the second stanza when Tumi Ngwepe fired Cosmos into lead, converting a brilliant pass by Vusumuzi Mncube.

However, the hosts got back on level terms just after the hour mark through Samuel Julies after the striker was brought down in the box by Ezenkosi defender, Bafana Tshawe.

Julies got his brace 10 minutes later when he swung a free kick beyond Cosmos shot-stopper, Melusi Buthelezi following an infringement by Stanley Umukoro.

But just when the Students thought it was all done and dusted, Ange Lebahi rose above ball-watching defenders to nod home a late corner kick by Tumi Ngwepe and deny AmaTuks the maximum points.

The result gave Cosmos a lifeline as they host promotion-seeking Tshakhuma TM next Sunday at Makhulong Stadium.
